Summary As a Human Resources Assistant (Employee Benefits), you will provide a variety of technical and administrative support activities for the Retirement and Benefits Team. This position requires technical knowledge and experience in human resources operations to include personnel action and retirement processing. Responsibilities As a HR Assistant (Employee Benefits), you will: Provide human resource support in the development, update and administration of the agency's retirement and benefits programs. Provide technical guidance to agency employees regarding the benefit programs including health, life, retirement, dental, vision, and Flex Fund. Research and analyze client issues and problems and recommend workable solutions and strategies. Work with various human resources and operational staff to identify and resolve a variety of issues and personnel-related problems in the areas of retirement and benefits. Prepare all personnel actions for processing in the NFC and PeopleSoft systems and inputs data to produce the SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action. Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed). Complete a background investigation (unless already completed). Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the next lower level, NB-III or GS-7, in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include: Assisting with advisory services on employee benefits programs to include: benefit programs including health and welfare programs; life insurance; dental/vision; flexible spending accounts; life cycle account; disability insurance; wellness programs; 401k; and other related programs. AND Researching policies, rules or regulations as they relate to employee benefits. OR One full year of graduate education meets the requirements where it is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
