Job Description
Financial Communications Analyst Marketing statement:
WMATA is seeking an ideal Financial Communication Analyst candidate who Coordinates with capital project manager and/or project teams to develop annual budget, quarterly forecasting, and explain the financial variances for assigned capital programs/projects. Reviews daily operations and activities of the assigned capital portfolio including purchase requisitions, cost benefits analysis, etc. Coordinates with project manager or project team for the status of assigned capital projects, including progress, scheduling, risks, and financial status.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor¿s degree in Public Administration, Planning, Data Science, Financial Management, Political Science, Economics, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive and relevant experience in preparing written, visual communication, web materials which include PowerPoint, data visualization or other visual reporting methods.

SUMMARY
The Financial Communications Analyst assembles, analyzes, and graphically communicates Metro¿s financial results for internal and external audiences to promote telling the story behind the financial data. The incumbent facilitates development of the Authority¿s annual budget book, quarterly reporting, and other items for use by Metro¿s management and Board of Directors.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supports the department by recommending and developing effective data visualizations, presentations, and reports that enhance the communication of financial information to leadership and key stakeholders.
Compiles, organizes, and prepares documents for Board of Director¿s meetings. Assists in creation of materials that address issues and prepare required Board approvals.
Conducts quality checks on documents. Proofreads and make requested edits to retain Metro¿s credibility and enable accurate data for decision making purposes.
Provides input and supports the development of oral, written, and visual presentations. Contributes to material development that conveys financial information to a variety of Metro¿s internal and external audiences. Use desktop computer, printer, copier, using Word/PowerPoint/Excel/Adobe Creative Suite/Acrobat Pro to support the efforts.
Develops charts, maps, and graphical presentations of financial and other quantitative information in a useful and engaging way to recipients.
Makes large and/or complex data more accessible, understandable and usable.
Develops and maintains presentation and word document templates to be utilized for daily tasks and presentations.
Identifies and implements opportunities to make financial reporting more efficient including through implementation of automation, improved workflows, etc.
Partners effectively across financial, operational, and technical teams to deliver reporting products.
Lads project-based deliverables for internal and external reporting.
Contributes to written reports on the quarterly financial results of the Authority including revenue, ridership, expense results, and variances from budget, providing visual, technical, and editorial guidance.
Develops narrative to help explain financial results, trends, and forecasts.
Ensures all-around consistency (e.g., style, fonts, images) in documents and other materials, to help maintain Metro¿s credibility and produce documents that are easy to read and convey desired content.
Maintains reports, record keeping, digital assets, and quality control associated with organizational goals and initiatives to keep files organized so team members can quickly locate correct versions of files.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
Prepares files for print or online publication.
Ensures documents are accessible for people with visual imparities and appropriately remediates them.
Research industry-related topics to summarize information for internal and external produces.
Research relevant federal and local topics including legislation, events, and other newsworthy developments that are relevant to Metro¿s financial reporting to summarize information for internal and external produces.
Meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
