Small Business Administration Financial Analyst in Washington, District Of Columbia

Summary This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Investment and Innovation in in Washington, DC. The incumbent is responsible for the analysis of financial statements, examination, and investigation reports covering the operations and practices of individual Small Business Investment Companies (SBICs). Responsibilities Serve in a developmental capacity in which the incumbent will receive assignments that are designed to develop their skills and knowledge until reaching the full performance level of Financial Analyst GS-1160-13. Work assignments are designed to continue and further develop the incumbent's range of duties and responsibilities. Duties include but are not limited to: In a developmental capacity, applies general principles of financial analysis/management in the evaluation of a variety of requests from a portfolio of Small Business Investment Companies. Assist in the performance of financial analyses on business entities to evaluate credit transaction and monitor credit risk. Assist with monitoring operations of business entities for adherence to business plan and regulatory compliance. Assist with processing requests from business entities to allow for day-to-day operations. Assist with preparing written materials to respond to requests and/or to provide information. Participate in routine, ongoing communication and interaction with senior business and governmental officials. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For the GS-09: Experience: At least one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service) obtained in either the private or public sector that includes performing financial analysis and evaluation of management structures, operations, and practices of corporate and other organizations. OR Education: Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Major study --- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics or other fields related to the position. One year of full-time graduate education is 18 semester hours or the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. You MUST submit transcripts if qualifying based on this option. OR Combination: Combination of applicable education and experience as noted above. For example, an applicant who has 1.0 full year of Masters level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position. You must submit your college transcripts if qualifying based this option. For the GS-11: Experience: At least one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service) obtained in either the private or public sector that includes: (1) Performing financial analysis and evaluation of management structures, operations, and practices of corporate and other organizations; AND (2) Applying rules, regulations and policies to various situations. OR Education: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. Major study -- finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics or other fields related to the position. One year of full-time graduate education is 18 semester hours or the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study.
