Noblis Engineer - Guided Missile Frigate (FFG) Program Office in Washington, District Of Columbia

Responsibilities

Noblis MSD is hiring engineers to support the Guided Missile Frigate (FFG) Program Office. The engineer will apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems. Engineers design products, machinery, implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials, such as petroleum and natural gas, develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology. Engineers analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on the people using them.

Responsibilities for thise Engineer will include:

  • Conduct a review and analysis of the small combatant ships designs, addressing technical issues that arise during design and construction, and in the development of the future ship requirements and acquisition documents.

  • Provide engineering support as requested by the Ship Design Managers (SDMs), PMS 515 and SUPSHIP to support technical and project decisions and maintain technical configuration control.

  • Provide support and technical review of established Baselines, including maintenance of established Baseline configuration documentation, reconciliation of baseline issues and updates, auditing contract documentation for implementation of baselines upgrades and in-process changes for potential incorporation into follow-on ship contract documentation.

  • Provide support for technical reviews and processing of all Class changes. Manage and track all changes in the FFG-62 Class. Review all changes for technical completeness, provide support and participate in configuration boards and waterfront change processes.

  • Perform technical analysis and review of Baselines and Baseline changes to ensure the incorporation into construction documentation meets the intent of subject ECPs/LCPs/etc.

  • Accomplish ECP/LCP verification and validation, including review for ship check ability prior to change approval, and support of ship completion verification efforts.

  • Perform scope and technical review and evaluation of ECPs, perform Technical Analysis Review (TAR) functions, participate in the overall change control process.

  • Review FFG 62 Class and Shipbuilder policies and guidance and provide program recommendations to SUPSHIP for concurrence and resolution.

  • Perform engineering analyses of customer mission and performance requirements to define whole ship attributes in engineering terms.

  • Perform engineering studies leading to the allocation of whole ship attributes to ship systems in terms of design direction, performance, configuration, space and weight, and arrangement.

  • Perform design and engineering studies to identify the degree of ship systems integration required to meet the ship mission.

  • Provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) of designs in the form of technical products such as drawings, calculations, schematics, reports, etc.

  • Provide technical assistance with vessel design, and integration, related to technical areas as necessary.

  • Perform continual review and analysis of the developing design to ensure that the ship is functionally balanced and integrated in terms of distribution and location of functions, seaworthiness, mission suitability (effectiveness, survivability), and performance.

  • Identify ship system characteristics and capabilities of alternative system configurations.

  • Provide support in technical review and evaluation for systems to support lethality and survivability.

  • Provide support and reports on shipboard casualties and potential impact on platform readiness and mitigating repair plans.

  • Review build specifications and provide inputs on revisions as necessary.

  • Participate in Design Reviews and other required program reviews.

  • Conduct weapons systems and ship design special studies as needed. Support review and evaluation of industry’s design on small combatant ships.

  • Support the Government's review of engineering systems’ technical data, engineering drawings, technical manuals, ILS data, ILS Checklists, and configuration baseline documentation to determine the changes required.

  • Provide support during the Ship Post Delivery Availabilities periods including review of Post-Delivery Work Specifications and post-delivery trials cards management.

  • Conduct engineering design studies as requested.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and at least 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent work experience

  • Secret clearance or ability to obtain active Secret Clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering License

  • Experience in Surface Combatant Ships

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

Posted Salary Range

USD $61,600.00 - USD $96,250.00 /Yr.
