Job Title: Employee Relations Specialist

Aston Carter has partnered with a large construction company seeking to hire an Employee Relations Specialist to manage the HR/Employee Relations for their east coast operations! Job Description:

Act as a key HR point of contact for branch operations, serving as a liaison between corporate departments and operations regarding employee-focused communication, training, and process workflows. Collaborate with HR partners to ensure standardization of HR practices across the organization and manage complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough and objective investigations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues through effective investigations.

  • Handle job-protected leave and reasonable accommodation requests, communicating them to corporate HR.

  • Conduct exit interviews, summarize findings, and discuss trends and concerns with upper management.

  • Facilitate the interactive accommodation process under the ADA, advising management on reasonable accommodations.

  • Collaborate with safety and branch leaders to manage personal illness and injury cases.

  • Advise upper leadership on performance management techniques, including motivational coaching, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions.

  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Identify talent issues before they affect the business and act as a talent scout for internal promotions.

  • Partner with Strategic Development to foster talent management and career development.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Analyze trends and metrics with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.

  • Train branch operations on recruiting compliance, EEO principles, and anti-discrimination practices.

  • Conduct anti-harassment training across the region per federal and state guidelines.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in conducting investigations regarding employee complaints, conflicts, or disciplinary matters.

  • 3+ years of experience in human resources in a business partner, generalist, or compliance capacity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related discipline, or comparable work experience.

  • 1-2 years of experience advising upper leadership in performance management techniques.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and the ability to interpret and apply HR concepts and best practices.

  • Proven track record of championing HR initiatives with creativity and innovation.

  • Ability to apply discretion and sound judgment in managing processes and handling sensitive information.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Work Environment:

This role involves significant travel in the first 4-6 weeks to visit various branches on the east coast, introducing yourself and building relationships with the teams. The work environment includes collaborating closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
