We are seeking a dedicated Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for lab testing of EO/IR sensor systems for various platforms, including airborne, ground, and ship platforms. This role involves integrating sensors with command and control systems, power, and data collection subsystems, creating test plans, and evaluating prototype sensors in both laboratory and field environments.
Responsibilities
Conduct lab testing of EO/IR sensor systems for airborne, ground, and ship platforms.
Integrate sensors with command and control, power, and data collection subsystems.
Create test plans and test cases for EO/IR sensors.
Test and evaluate prototype sensors in laboratory and field environments.
Essential Skills
Experience with sensors, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and other lab test tools.
Experience testing hardware/electrical components such as MWIR, SWIR, LWIR, Infrared, Optical, and EO/IR.
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience performing electrical testing of sensors or EO/IR equipment.
Experience creating test plans and test cases.
Willingness to travel to support test events.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Hyperspectral sensors.
Experience modeling system performance, developing system specifications, and selecting components.
Experience developing software to control sensors and collect imagery.
Work Environment
This position requires working onsite in a hybrid environment (4-5 days on site) alongside a team of approximately 65 people within the Applied Optics Branch at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. The Applied Optics Branch collaborates with the DoD and the Intelligence Community to develop new sensing technologies and build prototype sensors. The work involves integration, control systems, image processing, and data dissemination to end-users. Prototypes are tested and evaluated before being handed off to sponsors. The work may involve testing airborne sensors at altitudes of 25k-50k feet, smaller UAVs, submarine mast sensors, shipboard, and ground-based sensors. There may be periods of work surges requiring extended onsite presence.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00
