National Children's Center Director of Nursing in Washington, District Of Columbia

SUMMARY: Provide overall supervision and management of a 24/7 nursing service to include the establishment, monitoring and implementation of nursing care plans; medication administration, health care delivery and training to a network of program offerings for Group Homes, Independent Living programs, and day services. Provides direct supervision to nursing staff (Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses) to ensure required licensing and certifications are maintained within regulatory guidelines.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Community Support Services

SCHEDULE & LOCATION:

  • Monday-Friday, day shift; on-call is required

  • Main Office located in Silver Spring, MD with travel to group homes and programs located across Washington, DC, Montgomery and Prince George's County

    The salary range for this position is $110,000-$120,000 depending on experience.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides/coordinates staff training in areas related to the delivery of health care services to include: medication administration, first aid, infection control, CPR and airway management.

  • Conducts periodic visits to all sites in order to evaluate and recommend allocation of clinical staffing resources and quality assurance.

  • Provides management of the nursing office with licensed nursing personnel qualified to provide the required clinical services to the people served.

  • Responsible to ensure the preparation and supervision of nursing- care plans/healthcare passports for people served meet required clinical and regulatory guidelines and are followed by staff.

  • Ensures that written nursing summaries are initiated and maintained for all formal consumer specific program planning and treatment team meetings.

  • Serve as a liaison for District of Columbia and Maryland Nursing Services Departments.

  • Serve as liaison for the Board of Nursing in the District of Columbia and Maryland.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • RN and LPN staff assigned to the Program

  • Independent Contractors/Consultants (clinical)

  • Pharmaceutical, laboratory and biological waste vendors

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Active Registered Nurse license in both the District of Columbia and Maryland

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program, MSN preferred

  • Seven (7) years clinical experience including three (3) years leadership and supervision to RN and LPN staff and overall clinical responsibility in a 24/7 environment

  • Minimum one (1) year working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities

  • Experience with healthcare databases or electronic case management systems

  • Valid driver's license
