Amentum CUAS Systems Integration & Test Engineer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Join a team of Research, Design, Test, & Evaluation (RDT&E) professionals who are identifying, developing, demonstrating, and assessing technologies and concepts to help protect America’s homeland in support of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) Office of Mission and Capability Support (MCS).

Amentum is actively seeking a Systems Integration and Test Engineer with Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) experience to support portfolio system integration and assessment initiatives. The successful candidate will drive project execution in collaboration with DHS S&T leaders, DHS Component staffs, contract team members, vendors, and other subject matter experts and supporting organizations.

The position is telework with periodic out of area travel.

Candidates must be able to make daytrips around the National Capital Region, to include Summit Point, WV, for project support.

Essential Responsibilities :

  • Serve as Amentum project engineer for customer-focused C-UAS project activities, directly reporting to project leadership to support below activities as assigned.

  • Provide C-UAS systems engineering expertise to help guide all project execution issues.

  • Support and conduct technology surveys to review engineering specifications of C-UAS systems against customer requirements.

  • Support DHS component capability gap and requirement refinement activities.

  • Support, establish, and/or lead system integration and test efforts to determine select C-UAS system, or system of systems, effectiveness, and suitability for DHS missions.

  • Develop and review technical documents associated with above efforts, such as system design documents, test plans, and assessment reports.

  • Develop, coordinate, and/or provide stakeholder training on C-UAS system employment, networking, and troubleshooting.

  • Review performer/vendor’s technical documentation for accuracy and completeness.

  • Advise program management team on matters affecting project success, schedule, and cost impacts, and develop project recovery plans as required.

  • Represent the organization professionally in meetings and conferences as required.

  • Support and/or lead integrated product teams (IPTs) in executing tasks as assigned.

  • Support Amentum C-UAS business development and capture efforts as assigned.

  • May supervise other staff members.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizen.

  • Must be able to obtain DHS Entry on Duty (EOD) and maintain Public Trust suitability status

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or demonstrated equivalent and 8+ years of experience.

  • Experience working independently, or as a team member, to solve project/engineering/scientific problems.

  • 5+ years of experience with sUAS and C-UAS technologies

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, and analytical skills

  • Proficiency with developing schedules, work break down structures, word-processing, spreadsheets and integrated software applications.

  • Up to 20% out of area travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance.

  • Active Public Trust adjudication.

  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline

  • Knowledge of sUAS threats and C-UAS operations, analysis, and/or assessments for Homeland Security customers.

  • Ability to integrate one or more C-UAS systems together to detect, identify, track, and mitigate threats with a common operating picture (COP).

  • Familiarity with Team Awareness Kit/Tactical Assault Kit

  • Familiarity with mobile ad hoc networking (MANET)
