Description

We are offering a long-term contract opportunity for a Controller in Washington, District of Columbia. This role is within the finance industry and will be instrumental in supporting the transition from Cash to Accrual-based accounting. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in technical accounting standards including revenue recognition, external audit compliance, and financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the transition from cash to accrual-based accounting

• Establish accounting policies and procedures

• Develop the chart of accounts in Quickbooks Online

• Prepare for the year-end audit process

• Collaborate closely with the Director of Finance, external CPA firm, and internal business partners

• Leverage your CPA and Public Accounting experience to ensure financial processes are compliant and efficient

• Apply ASC 606 standards to develop Contract Revenue Recognition controls and procedures

• Manage expense and cost allocation effectively.

Requirements

• Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller or similar role

• Proficiency in Quickbooks Online is mandatory

• Expertise with Revenue Recognition Guidance is essential

• Proven skills in Expense Management and Cost Allocation

• Adept at following and implementing accounting procedures

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting with CPA required

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Must be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
