Branding & Communications Specialist

Apply your expertise to advance the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) International Operations (IO) mission through the ATLAS contract as a Communications Specialist Senior at GDIT. Here, you’ll support solving some of our clients’ biggest challenges, contributing to challenging projects, and growing a rewarding career.

Our work depends on a Communications Specialist Senior joining our team to advance IO initiatives through the creation of communication products, videos, social media campaigns, and supporting website development. You will also provide recommendations on best practices including content, usability, and design for such products and campaigns.

HOW A COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

● Participates in the development, revision, and delivery of internal and external communications materials in coordination with IO leadership

● Consolidate information across various storage methods through web-based platforms which provide access control as determined by the associated program(s)

● Recommend best practices to improve efficiencies throughout the creation, deployment, maintenance, and updating of communications catalogue products

● Utilize multiple forms of media including but not limited to video, photography, and webpage content to improve IO’s image to government and public audiences

● Create and develop professional communications and reporting products for multiple audiences (i.e. Leadership, Congressional, Media)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

● Education: Master’s Degree in International Relations, Communications, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field along with several years of related work experience; or Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Communications, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field along with along with five or more years of experience in government or international organizations, particularly in roles involving communication, public relations, or strategic partnerships; or 10+ years Specific Sector Experience in International Relations, Communications, Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field specifically with U.S. Government agencies, NGOs, or international bodies such as the United Nations, NATO, or the European Union

● Security Clearance Level: Must obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation for access to sensitive but unclassified information.

● Required Skills and Abilities: Excellent Writing Skills : Ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive written content tailored to various audiences, including government officials, international partners, and the public. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams: Advanced skills in creating professional, visually appealing, and impactful presentations. Communication Skills : Strong verbal communication skills for presenting ideas effectively in meetings and briefings. Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze complex information and data, synthesizing it into coherent reports and presentations. Project Management : Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often with tight deadlines. Intercultural Competence : Understanding of and sensitivity to cultural differences, with the ability to communicate effectively across cultures. Policy Knowledge : Familiarity with international policies, treaties, and agreements relevant to the specific area of focus. Research Skills : Strong ability to conduct thorough research, gathering and interpreting relevant data to support communication efforts.

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
