Requirements
The Cancer Prevention and Control Program (http://lombardi.georgetown.edu/research/programs/cancer-prevention-control/) (CPC) at Georgetown University is currently seeking applications for a highly motivated Biostatistician to join her team to model the natural history of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and evaluate tobacco control policies and screening strategies to prevent and reduce COPD health burden. The position involves building discrete event population simulation models and working on secondary data analyses (e.g., nationally representative health surveys and health care systems). The opportunity will provide a unique experience in chronic disease population modeling and working with large-scale health data. Duties include but are not limited to:

Manuscript Writing

The individual in this position will primarily interact with Luz M. Sanchez Romero, Assistant Professor at CPC. The Biostatistician will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of modelers, economists, public health scientists at Georgetown and collaborate with a network of researchers from NIH-funded research consortiums from TCORS- Center for the Assessment for Tobacco Regulations (CAsToR (https://tcors.umich.edu/) ) and Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network (CISNET) (https://cisnet.cancer.gov/lung/) Lung modeling on a project-by-project basis.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master’s in Computer or Decision Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related field
Disease or behavior simulation modeling experience
Experience with programing languages such as R or Python
Working independently with health related cross-sectional and longitudinal data
Experience with quantitative modeling
Experience assisting with manuscript writing, primarily writing statistical design, methods, and analysis for research assignments

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13
Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
