The Auditor will perform a wide range of financial data audits, verifications, and analytical services based on a thorough knowledge of federal financial and accounting policies, standards, and systems requirements. This role will prepare results reporting to inform program offices of fiscal status, solvency, and programmatic and regulatory compliance. The Auditor will confirm and prioritize project plans and deliverables in collaboration with supervisors and stakeholders.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor certification
Minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, accounting, or financial analysis
Significant experience in conducting financial statement reviews, audits, and evaluating programs, operations, and accounting systems
Required Skills and Competencies:
Demonstrated Expertise in reviewing organizational programs and operations to assess efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies
Experience in designing and conducting financial statement reviews and audits, which demonstrate they have met generally accepted quality standards, sufficiently documented determinations and processes, and supported findings with pertinent evidence.
Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing audit approaches to evaluate a variety of programs, operations, and accounting systems, and preparing reports that provide information about program operations and identifying areas of, and causes for, deficiencies, problems or noncompliance.
Ability to make decisions, provide recommendations, and advise senior management on financial and operational matters
In-depth knowledge of accounting and auditing theory, concepts, and practices
Strong analytical skills to accurately analyze financial, accounting, and audit data and identify trends
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing and presenting audit reports and findings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn financial/auditing software and database applications
Experience in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (internal controls) for accounting and auditing processes
Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team
Desired Skills and Competencies:
Experience working with U.S. foreign affairs agencies or international organizations
Experience working with the Department of State or diplomatic programs
Foreign language skills preferred
Knowledge of program administration, oversight, and monitoring procedures
