Job Description
We are seeking a talented Architect to join our team in Washington, DC, to support a new construction historic preservation project. This role involves significant construction administration and design review to ensure that construction and deliverables meet the design standards set by the Architect of the Capital (AOC).
Responsibilities
Assist the Project Construction Manager in schedule reviews, cost estimating, and constructability reviews.
Conduct architectural studies, develop design concepts and design criteria, and prepare related reports.
Review CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards prepared by Architectural Designers.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
Write construction specifications and prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials, as needed.
Interface with suppliers as required.
Coordinate work with engineering and construction units at the project site.
Review detailed design and construction drawings and specifications prepared by others.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction/Project Management, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent additional related experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
Licensed Architect with AIA registration or CCM certification is preferred.
Proficiency in the application of architectural design standards, practices, and techniques.
Demonstrated proficiency in sketching, rendering, model building, and presentation drawing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Revit, Microstation, AutoCAD, or other software packages typically associated with architectural design.
Ability to review designs and construction plans to meet codes, budgets, and schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in architectural detailing, facility management, construction management, and project management.
Experience in reviewing and participating in construction document sets.
Construction administration experience.
Must be able to obtain a security clearance.
Work Environment
This position requires some level of customer service and project delivery to ensure client satisfaction. The role will represent the AOC for new work at the visitor center. The work environment is a hybrid office setup with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. This is a 3-month opportunity with the potential for extension, offering a 40-hour workweek. This role provides a valuable opportunity to work on a prestigious government project.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00
