Netflix Manager, U.S. Public Policy in Washington DC, District Of Columbia

The Role

This role is dedicated to U.S. federal policy within the UCAN Public Policy team, and reports to the Director of U.S. Public Policy. It is based in Washington D.C. and entails travel to Netflix offices in Los Angeles, New York, and other locations as needed.

The UCAN Public Policy team within Global Public Policy advocates for a legislative and regulatory environment conducive to growth in the U.S. and Canada and serves as a strategic partner to internal business groups as they navigate the policy world.

As part of this team, the successful candidate will be immersed in the unique content for which Netflix is known and support U.S. policy advocacy on all matters related to content creation, production, and delivery. The Manager will help advance business and policy objectives in Washington, provide thought leadership on critical issues, collaborate with industry and civil society partners, and serve as a resource to internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legislative research and analysis on a wide range of issues impacting the business.

  • Help develop strategy, advocacy plans, memoranda, talking points, and presentations on priority issues.

  • Summarize congressional hearings, markups, and agency rulemakings and maintain databases and trackers on priority issues.

  • Help advise internal teams on key policy developments and their impact on the business.

  • Collaborate with internal teams as well as consultants, trade associations, and other external partners.

  • Maintain strong relationships with policymakers, staff, and third parties.

  • Attend company events, trade association meetings, congressional briefings, and industry receptions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, including roles such as a legislative aide in the U.S. Congress, federal agency, consultancy, law firm, and/or civil society.

  • Experience working on technology, media, and telecom policy and knowledge of these industry sectors.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating successfully with multiple teams.

  • Excellent judgment, research skills, and attention to detail.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $130,000 - $380,000.
