Microsoft Corporation Lease Cost Manager in Washington D.C., District Of Columbia
Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Global Project Controls (GPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services.
To help us accelerate achieving our objectives, growth, and transformation, we are looking for a Lease Cost Manager for the AMERS Leased data center Fitout program to work alongside the regional cost management lead to manage the cost reporting aspects on all data center fit-out construction projects. This role is located either in one or all hub locations: Atlanta, GA, Phoenix, AZ, Redmond, WA, San Antonio, TX, or Washington, DC. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 100%.

Responsibilities
Partner collaboratively with cross-functional teams (design engineering, construction, cost controls functions, scheduling, finance, etc.) to understand requirements and ensure alignment to scope, schedule, and budget.
Develop and maintain cost accrual and forecast reports for the Global lease fit-out portfolio
Report out to senior managers on cost report data, project cost progress and assumptions to ensure a clear and concise message is sent and understood.
Provide day-to-day Cost Management activities, as required, to maintain the projects financial reporting and logging systems i.e. a good understanding of commitments & forecasting spends for monthly, quarterly & the fiscal year.
Support, develop and improve cost management and estimating processes and procedures.
Drive standardization and consistency throughout the group.
Management of all commercial issues on all current, future, and past projects and report on these issues through the Project Controls & Construction Management head office in Redmond on a regular basis.
Commercial management of the lease provider (LP) from liaison with our procurement office on the RFP documents through to the final payments and agreement of the final accounts and paperwork.
Provide the PER (funding) team all commercial support necessary to ascertain the required timing of the funding intervals and all commercial information needed to back up these funding requests to management. This will normally involve the production of multiple option cost scenarios.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience
OR equivalent experience.
5+ Years of experience managing the estimating or commercials on a major construction portfolio.
Proficiency in Power Bi/Power Apps, or any other data analytics tools.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
12+ years experience working on data center projects.
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience
OR equivalent experience.
Effective communication skills, ability to collaborate with all other areas of the data center program, think strategically, and build the trust of our construction partners needed to report our on very large CAPEX portfolios.
Possess a clear understanding of the full Construction Life Cycle
Develop, maintain, and report out on project scope, schedule, and budget with cost as the main driver in those conversations.
Cross-group collaborator and influencer across teams and organizations with proven success in participating in cross-functional teams to deliver on key projects.
Able to work within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants.
High personal standard to deliver a thoughtful, polished, and quality portfolio report-out deliverable.
Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $115,000 - $200,300 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $146,200 - $219,200 per year.
