Purpose of the Role

We are looking for talented individuals with specialist packaging knowledge, subject matter expertise in testing and development of sustainable and innovative packaging materials and formats. The individual will have experience within process and operations to lead end-to-end supply chain and procurement continuous improvement and transformation programmes.

The scope of the ‘end to end’ supply chain and procurement footprint:

  • Business Support: Analysis, problem-solving and driving improvement opportunities for quality, compliance, product and process efficiencies, and innovation across the Diageo portfolio, globally.

  • Strategic Projects: Delivery of strategic projects benefitting Diageo’s business model, material/product/process quality, compliance, efficiency, innovation, and sustainability agendas.

  • Research & Development: Horizon scanning and pipeline development to ensure ground breaking technology being developed and deployed at Diageo.

Skills Required for Packaging Specialists

Degree or equivalent experience in a Scientific subject area (ideally allied to the drinks industry) or equivalent relevant qualifications and experience.

  • A strong competency in Packaging and a preferably a specialisation in one or more of the following: Packaging Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Food Science, Food Technology, Material Science.

  • Proven experience in sustainable packaging, including knowledge of sustainable materials, life cycle analysis, and packaging regulations.

  • Experience of production and testing of materials used in food and drink packaging industries, including novel/ emerging materials and methodologies.

  • Proven track record of strategic project and program management and delivery, including risk management and financial awareness.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with and influence partners throughout the organization.

  • Demonstrable record of scaling up sophisticated scientific initiatives, preferably in production environments.

  • Self-motivated team member with the capability to lead and drive strategic programmes proactively.
