Project Overview:

Bechtel and Westinghouse Electric Company have partnered to deliver the first AP1000 nuclear power reactors in Poland for our customer, the Polish Entity Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ). Bechtel will be the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project. As the EPC, our responsibilities will include providing the design for the Turbine Island and Balance of Plant as well as the construction of the entire facility.

This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity, and we are looking for the talent that will help expand Poland’s nuclear base and build a strong and long-lasting energy future for generations to come.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will manage a team and provide field engineering leadership for work planning and packaging, material management, quantity validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and coordination of system turnover and subcontracts. Your oversight will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

The Lead Field Engineer supervises construction coordinators and field engineers responsible for planning, developing, writing, editing and proofreading construction documents that are part of deliverables to the Owner or project execution documents.

Represents the field engineering and construction team during the Interface with other functional departments to ensure construction input to project plans, schedules, estimates, risk assessment and execution strategy. Define requirements and coordinate with Project Information Management Systems for development/use of construction automation tools and applications used during execution to collect data related to construction quantities, installation status, quality inspection metrics, etc.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership/Supervision: Proactively engages with their teams’ development through corporate performance management, competency development/assessment and feedback.

Work Planning & Packaging: Coordinates with design on constructability issues.

Quantities: Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting.

Safety / Quality Control: Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by subcontractors and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

General: Ensure that Bechtel and local/national codes, requirements, and standards are being complied with within their assigned area of responsibility. Ensure implementation of all applicable project policies, procedures, and instructions. Coordinate with Design Engineering Group, Field Engineering Group and other functions.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience. Must be Authorized to work in Poland.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Applicants must have native-level proficiency in Polish. Skilled in verbal and written communication. Proficient use of computer applications, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.. Ability to navigate and search a variety of project databases.

Knowledge of engineering and construction systems, methods, and work processes. Knowledge of field engineering work processes and work package execution, and construction automation processes. Knowledge and ability to read and understand design output documents relative to construction field installation activities. Knowledge of Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management, technologies, means and methods. Previous experience on EPC projects.
