UL, LLC Data Architect in Warsaw, Poland
We are looking for a Data Architect to join our Enterprise Data Management & Analytics hub in Warsaw, Poland.
As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data models to support our business analytics and reporting needs. You will work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts, data engineers, BI engineers, and data analysts to ensure our data structures effectively address key business questions and meet performance requirements. You will have a strong understanding of data modelling techniques and database systems, and the ability to translate business requirements into data requirements and data models which can support analytics.
Design, develop, and maintain the structure and layout of data systems, including databases, warehouses, and lakes.
Translate high-level business requirements into data models which effectively capture data requirements and data entity relationships.
Maintain comprehensive data model documentation (conceptual, logical, physical models), data dictionaries, and technical metadata for analytical data structures.
Select and implement database management systems that meet the organization’s needs by defining data schemas, optimizing data storage, and establishing data access controls and data security measures.
Optimize data models to enhance data integrity, consistency, and efficiency, considering data volumes and query performance.
Partner with senior business stakeholders to secure strong engagement and ensure project deliverables align with longer-term strategic goals and roadmaps.
Participate in data governance, data quality, data security, and data privacy standards and processes.
Evaluate and apply appropriate data governance, quality, data security, and data privacy standards in data modeling activities.
Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies for data management, storage, and analytics.
Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct, and follow all physical and digital security practices
Performs other duties as directed.
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or another logical degree with an element of programming (language unimportant) and/or 6+ years equivalent commercial experience
• 5+ years of experience in data modelling, database design, or data architecture within an analytics environment.
• Proven experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse).
• Strong knowledge and experience of dimensional and relational data modelling best practices.
• Experience with data governance practices and data quality principles.
• Experience with data modelling tools (e.g., Erwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio, Sql DBM).
• Excellent SQL skills and proven experience in optimizing query performance.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
• Ability to work effectively and build trust with business stakeholders.
