About the Opportunity

As a result of an increasing portfolio of projects, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Process Engineer to join our in either, Stockton, Birchwood, Westlakes or Winnersh.

You will be responsible for leading the Process design development for our projects and will report to our Process Engineering Discipline Manager who will provide you with support and guidance in the role. You will work within a multi-discipline team to deliver the process design and be responsible for a process engineering team for projects that you lead. This will include managing the process design delivery and being responsible for the delivery of key process engineering activities, process safety assessments, and taking a leading role in HAZOPs and design reviews. You will be responsible for ensuring our quality assurance processes are followed, that our process design meet the project requirements and our client’s expectations and assuring the technical integrity of our designs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading functional input to own projects, including where relevant leading the input of other (possibly multidisciplinary) engineers and subcontractors, to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality

  • Support the discipline engineering manager in non-project-based activities such as writing procedures, resource planning, establishing policy, budgeting, recruitment etc, to support the drive to continuously improve and optimise the operation of the department

  • Provide functional support and guidance to more junior staff to develop them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole

  • Proactively generate value adding options within projects to offer to clients to improve both the chance of winning work and satisfaction with completed and ongoing work

  • Carry out engineering calculations and check the work of more junior staff to deliver a quality functional input to projects

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Chartered Engineer status with a recognised professional body (e.g. IChemE)

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or equivalent

  • At least 10 years of experience in relevant project design work

  • Proven track record of leading process delivery on projects to meet deadlines and high-quality standards
