Warren General Hospital Respiratory Therapist in Warren, Pennsylvania

FT: Respiratory Therapist, Warren General Hospital, Warren, PA Essential Job Duties: Delivers Respiratory Therapy according only to physician's prescription and/or the approved departmental standing orders/protocols unless contradicted or not applicable. Accepts verbal orders regarding Respiratory Therapy procedures following the written approval of the Medical Supervisor & according to the department policy concerning this subject. Performs outpatient PFT testing as directed by Physician. Modifies therapy & therapeutic parameters only on the prescribed orders of the physician. Performs arterial blood gas procedures. Participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation events. Maintains current knowledge regarding the mechanical & physiological characteristics, ability and limitations of all equipment used. Works as a team to plan and coordinate the routine clinical functions of the department. Assists the Department Director in the development and review of departmental policies, procedures and programs. Instructs either formally or informally physicians, department personnel, nurses and other medical personnel regarding Respiratory Therapy techniques. Teaches patients and their families' respiratory therapy techniques according to a physician's prescription. Participates in indicated equipment modifications and research programs. Participates in the department's in-service program as requested by the Department Director Attends indicated meetings as requested by the Department Director. Performs related duties as required or requested by Department Director.

Work/Education requirements: High school education or equivalent is required. Graduate of CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) program with minimum of an Associate's degree is required. Licensure by the State of Pennsylvania as a Certified Respiratory Care Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is required Clinical experience in the critical and routine phases of diagnostic, therapeutic and manipulative Respiratory Therapy is required. Working knowledge of medical terminology is required. Knowledge of general business practice is required.

Education: Associate (Preferred)
