About this Position The Connection Systems team has an exciting product engineering opportunity located in Warren, OH at our Champion Technical Center. Under the direction of a product engineering supervisor, the successful candidate will serve as a product engineer working on the next generation of high power connection systems for electric vehicles. Responsibilities and Duties As a product engineer, you will own the mechanical/electrical design of our next generation high voltage products from preliminary concept to prototype to production. This includes: Detailed design ownership - from concept to final design Developing prototypes Design/Product Validation (DV/PV) High volume production implementation (PPAP) Being the product lead, you will engage in frequent multi-disciplinary collaboration with teams like CAD, simulation, materials, manufacturing, tooling, program management, supply chain, quality, operations, sales, and application engineering to ensure flawless product launch Work closely with suppliers/vendors to ensure parts meet product specifications Support customers on various production issues leveraging structured problem solving techniques and root cause analysis Proactively identify, prioritize, and drive resolution on program/customer issues. Support business pursuit activities and deliver high quality technical design presentations to Aptiv leadership and customers Collaborate with product line management on future requirements/voice of customer feedback/benchmarking data to help define product technology roadmap Support Aptiv global teams in other business units/regions Must be able to travel to suppliers and global Aptiv sites as needed Basic Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering 3+ years' experience with automotive product design experience or equivalent Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and geometric tolerancing (GDT), with focus on high volume manufacturing Requires excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including emails, preparing slide presentations, and presenting technical concepts to multi-disciplinary teams Experience in driving challenging electro-mechanical architecture, managing trade-offs, design selection, and manufacturing constraints Proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred), wide knowledge of basic engineering materials and manufacturing processes Experience in prototyping quick-turn, preliminary concepts to enable architecture down-selects and data collection Working knowledge of FEA/moldflow/thermal analysis principles Creative problem solving, with experience in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and DOE creation Project/program management experience Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently Resourcefully innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing environment Traits We Seek Curiously investigate everything - ability to solve problems analytically, creatively and collaboratively Lead with confidence - thought leaders who empower those around them Learn by doing - an entrepreneurial mindset that's driven by hands-on experimentation Embrace resilience - seeing every challenge as a learning opportunity and invitation to grow #LI-PG2 Privacy Notice - Active Candidates: http
