Leader Communications Inc. Telecommunications Mechanic in Warren, Michigan
Position Summary
Provides operation and maintenance (O&M) support for the Administrative Telephone System and cable plant at Tooele Army Depot. Service support includes but is not limited to the following: Customer Service (telephone), Switchboard Operations, Inside Plant, and Outside Plant (Cable).
Individuals must be able to attain and maintain a valid U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Includes but is not limited to the following:
Perform the full range of services related to copper and fiber cable installation, termination, repair, marking, cutover, and splicing procedures.
Perform Monthly Maintenance including Periodic Maintenance Inspections (PMI) and repair of manholes, hand holes, pedestals, and building entrance terminals.
Perform Work Orders including customer interface, conducting a site survey, development of materials requirement, documentation, and implementation.
Provide location, staking, and marking services on BTS encased and direct buried conduit/cables, manholes, hand holes, pedestals, etc.
Verify the correct location of BTS infrastructure using the Global Positioning System (GPS) and update Cable Assignment Information Retrieval System (CAIRS) database with descriptive information.
Provide descriptive information red line drawing and input updates into the Cyberspace Visualization Component (CVC) system data entry.
Assist Premises Technicians in their duties.

Education & Experience Requirements
Tel Mech I:
- Must have 3+ years of relevant experience required Outside and Inside Cable Plant experience
Tel Mech II
Must have 5+ years of relevant experience required Outside and Inside Cable Plant experience
DOD 8570 IAT Level II with CE
Skill & Certification Requirements
DOD 8570 IAT Level II with CE
VoIP Systems support.
Confined space certification
Fiber and Copper Installation and testing (BICSI Installer)
Knowledge of Cisco Software and Routing.
Nortel Meridian One CS100M Switch.
Computer skills; TMS, CVC, CAIRS, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Able to establish implementation plans for PBX/Voice Mail installations.
Proficient in troubleshooting techniques.
Strong customer focus.
Demonstrated communication skills; verbal and written.
May require lifting more than 50 lbs.
Position requires sitting, standing, kneeling, and bending for long periods of time. (Heavy Work)
Able to attain confined space certification, and experience working in confined spaces (manholes) preferred
Able to perform CPR and safety observer duties if necessary.
