About the Position: You will serve as the Chief of a Weapon System Branch in a Product Support Integration Directorate (PSID). This is a temporary position of one year and cannot be made permanent. It can be extended for up to three years in one year increments. Responsibilities Supervise the activities of multifunctional teams which may include Equipment Specialists, Inventory Management Specialists, Supply Management Specialists, Technical Writers, Logistics Management Specialists and other specialists. Participate in the development of program requirements for assigned systems. Evaluate the effectiveness of assigned programs/weapon systems and materiel, assuring timely support of field and higher echelon customers. Coordinate logistics mission accomplishment within the community, higher headquarters, and other relevant organizations. Assign work to subordinates, provide technical oversight, develop performance plans/rates employees, interview candidates/recommend hiring/promotion, and take disciplinary measures. Develop and implement a comprehensive product support strategy for the weapon system. Utilize sound judgment in decision making process in difficult, negative, or unexpected situations. Analyze problems and identify new solutions. Identify developmental and training needs of employees and provide/arrange for development/training. Specialized Experience: In order to qualify for this position your resume must describe one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02 (GS-11 or equivalent) grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Managing a weapons system and interfacing with multiple policies; 2) Briefing leadership or key officials on program status; AND 3) Providing guidance, training and/or work review for employees. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service NH-02 or GS-11 equivalent. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
