Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our maintenance team. The role involves installing wires in buildings, setting up equipment, and troubleshooting machinery once production begins. You will work closely with other maintenance team members to diagnose and resolve issues with industrial machinery and production equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.

  • Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures, and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.

  • Utilize a laptop and HMI to interface with various process logic controllers to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with production equipment, CNC machinery, assembly lines, and other equipment.

  • Make backups of programs, parameters, and machine data as needed.

  • Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and proximity sensors.

  • Locate replacement parts necessary to repair equipment including: MRO crib or maintenance warehouse.

  • Adjust functional parts of production equipment to achieve functionality and peak performance.

  • Start production equipment to test performance.

  • Utilize a variety of common hand tools and power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, pipe benders, threaders, and other applicable tools.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out procedures.

  • Initiate purchase requisitions for parts and machines.

  • Assist mechanics when needed and perform mechanical duties within the individual’s ability, not limited to electrical duties.

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on time to provided schedule.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years in an industrial setting

  • Journeyman's Card (State or UAW, current or expired)

  • Experience with installing and troubleshooting electrical systems on industrial machinery

  • Knowledge of 3-phase motors and 480V electrical systems

  • Facilities electrical knowledge

  • PLC Troubleshooting (Siemens)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

  • Experience replacing faulty electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and proximity sensors

  • Proficiency in using a laptop and HMI to interface with process logic controllers

  • Debugging electrical issues

  • Experience with industrial and facilities electrical work

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Festo Blocks (cylinders)

  • Flexibility to handle projects outside of the normal scope

  • Willingness to travel to Oklahoma to assist with machinery relocation until February

Work Environment

This role is based in a newly renovated plant in Warren, MI, which includes all new electrical systems, CNC machinist lines, conveyors, carousel assembly equipment, and robotic weld cells. The plant operates three shifts with a 50-cent shift premium for off shifts. Expect to work an average of 40-50 hours per week during the transition period, with potential overtime based on production needs. Travel to Oklahoma may be required to assist with machinery relocation until February.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, Michigan.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00
