The anticipated hourly wage for this position is between $46 and $49. Hourly wage may depend upon experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Scientist - DNA Platform

Contract Duration: 1 year

Location: Waltham, MA

We are seeking a skilled molecular biologist to support mRNA vaccine research and development, with a focus on DNA production, purification, and analytical technologies. The ideal candidate will have expertise in molecular biology techniques, including DNA sequence design, PCR, molecular cloning, DNA purification, and DNA analytics (e.g., gel electrophoresis, quantification). Experience with isothermal cell-free DNA amplification, AKTA chromatography, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and biostatistics is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

1. DNA Production & Quality Control

• Design and optimize DNA sequences for mRNA-based therapeutics.

• Perform molecular cloning, bacterial culture, plasmid DNA extraction, and purification.

• Conduct DNA quality control analyses, including gel electrophoresis and quantification.

2. Process Development & Optimization

• Improve and develop DNA production and purification processes, including both cell-based and cell-free approaches.

• Optimize workflows and troubleshoot experimental challenges.

• Establish and refine protocols to enhance DNA yield, purity, and consistency.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to align research objectives.

• Provide scientific insights to support project goals and innovation.

• Document findings and contribute to technical reports and publications.

Required Qualifications:

• MS with 5+ years or Ph.D. with 0-1+ years of post-graduate experience in molecular biology, synthetic biology, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including DNA sequence design, PCR, cloning, purification, and analytics.

• Experience or knowledge of AKTA chromatography.

• Strong background in process optimization and assay development.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to independently design and execute experiments.

• Excellent record-keeping and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with isothermal DNA amplification techniques.

• Familiarity with biostatistics and software tools such as JMP, Python, or MATLAB.

Pay Details: $46.00 to $48.00 per hour
