Whitman College is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer (EEO). POSITION PURPOSE Assist the Head Coach with all aspects of the men's baseball program. This position is 0.93 FTE that works 1934 annual hours. COMPENSATION Successful applicants can expect to start at $19.61 per hour. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES • Assist with practice planning, execution and on-field instruction. • Help develop and implement game plans, reports, strategies and on-field duties as assigned. • Assist in all phases of the recruiting process, specifically the scouting and evaluation of skilled and academically qualified student-athletes. • Throw quality on-field batting practice and direct position-specific groups. An ability to throw competitive batting practice as well as a strong background in hitting is preferred. • Assist in monitoring academic progress and serve as a program liaison for campus colleagues. • Coordinate team, alumni, and community outreach events. • Serve as a mentor, teacher, leader, and positive role model for student-athletes. • 40 hours of game management responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Event Management or the Assistant Facilities/Event Management. • Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Must be able to explain and/or demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
