Robert Half Cost Accountant in Walker, Louisiana

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in the manufacturing industry, located in Walker, Louisiana. The role involves overseeing standard costing, budgeting, cost variance analysis, and business process improvements.

Responsibilities:

• Analyzing manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

• Enhancing the cost accounting system by managing, maintaining, and improving it.

• Gathering and analyzing data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.

• Participating or leading in physical inventories and providing reports on results to the executive group.

• Assisting in month-end closing procedures by preparing journal entries related to various product lines and/or standard costs.

• Collaborating with operations and engineering teams to ensure accurate costing and support new product development.

• Preparing various ad hoc reports as requested by local or executive management.

• Leading the enhancement of standard cost reporting and variance analysis.

• Using accounting software systems and ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning for efficient operations.

• Applying knowledge of manufacturing cost accounting and accounting functions in day-to-day tasks. Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Cost Accounting role within the Manufacturing industry

• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with ERP - Enterprise Resource Planning

• Experience in executing Accounting Functions

• Expertise in Manufacturing Cost Accounting

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

• Excellent organizational and time management skills

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
