Ridgeview Medical Center Summer Nurse Intern in Waconia, Minnesota

Come join our team as a Summer Intern! Purpose of Job: This position is responsible for assisting with direct and non-direct patient care functions and other assigned tasks under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. Job Functions: Hangs maintenance IV fluids with no additives. IV fluids with additives must be checked by an RN. Inserts/Removes urinary drainage catheters. Changes dressings. Starts IV's. Discontinues INT/IV's. Discharges teachings (application, discontinuing of monitoring electrodes/devices) Reinforces patient education per direction of nursing staff. Participates in education activities that contribute to improved clinical competency and personal work satisfaction. Reports all pertinent patient information to appropriate nursing personnel. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience: Currently enrolled in a Baccalaureate Degree Nursing program with graduations anticipated within 12 months of internship Enrolled in an accredited nursing program in Minnesota Enrolled in Clinical Elective Nursing Internship course for the duration of internship Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Basic knowledge of sterile technique and handling of sterile equipment Good customer services skills to facilitate appropriate interaction with patients and families Knowledge of basic patient care duties Knowledge of patient positioning to promote correct body alignment/padding Knowledge of personal protective equipment required for working with bio hazardous material Understanding and practice of patient confidentiality Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above.
