Ridgeview Medical Center Occupational Therapist in Waconia, Minnesota

Purpose of Job This position is responsible for the evaluation, treatment, documentation and education of Occupational Therapy clients accessing the Rehab Specialties department. Job Functions Performs evaluations, documents care, and discharge client cases in an outpatient settingwith skills treating a range of neurological diagnoses such as mild to severe stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's, neuromuscular conditions, traumatic brain injury with knowledge of mTBI/Concussion or other neurological diagnoses and common impairments. Performs evaluations, documents care, and discharge client cases in an outpatient settingwith skills treating a range of neurological diagnoses such as mild to severe stroke, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's, neuromuscular conditions, traumatic brain injury with knowledge of mTBI/Concussion or other neurological diagnoses and common impairments. Communicates with the patient, family and other members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide efficient and effective individualized patient care. Delivers care with familiarity of equipment and devices both capital and individual for persons with neurological conditions (such as wheelchairs, gait training devices, Dynamic Vision and Balance Computerized Assessments, braces, or other equipment commonly utilized in the setting). Exhibits knowledge of home/work adaptation (work simplification/energy conservation/ergonomics) to increase independence and decrease burden of care. Exhibits working knowledge of hours of operation, customer base, department operations, visit procedures (i.e. Home Care), and chart audit procedures. Understands and uses reimbursement and regulatory guidelines for care and environment. Provides effective supervision of aides, students and volunteers when occupational therapy is provided. Assists in keeping treatment environment, tools and equipment organized, clean, and safe to maximize treatment effectiveness. Provides professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Assist with department and program planning as needed or requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
