Area Field Agronomist

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Optimize Crop Performance: Leverage advanced agronomic knowledge to optimize crop planning and cultivation techniques, incorporating modern methodologies for enhanced agricultural performance.

  • Employ detailed nutrient and fertility management strategies to ensure healthy crop development and maximize yield potential.

  • Develop integrated pest, disease, and weed management programs to ensure crop health and productivity while minimizing environmental impact.

  • Provide specialized field operational guidance for the methodologies involved in hybrid seed corn and soybean seed production, including CMS, RHS systems, isolation protocols, and direct harvest procedures.

  • Utilize data analytics and precision agriculture tools to continuously monitor and analyze crop performance data, implementing data-driven enhancements aimed at optimizing yields while meticulously managing financial targets and profit and loss (P&L) metrics.

  • Facilitate Collaborative Engagement: Actively engage with Field Production operations in field, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

  • Sponsor crop status update discussions to align production strategies, crop progress and results with partners and customers.

  • Collaborate with various networks to build crop production resource plans around new products and traits.

  • Provide Training and Coaching: Develop and deliver targeted training programs to support regional commercial seed production, ensuring operational discipline and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to elevate the agronomic proficiency of team members.

  • Engage internal and external experts within the industry to enhance agronomic knowledge across region.

  • Enable a Customer-Centric Approach: Interact with customers, growers and field service providers to understand their needs, challenges, and expectations as our successful partners in seed production.

  • Align production strategies with customer requirements, ensuring a customer-centric approach.

  • Continuous Improvement: Utilize data-driven insights to identify areas for continuous improvement in agronomic practices.

  • Actively participate in PDCA review and A3 problem-solving events. Support Digital Tool development and implementation to drive continuous improvement through data driven decisions.

  • Ensure Compliance and Safety: Collaborate with SSHE, QMS and Stewardship Compliance Business Partners to ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.

  • Leverage QMS systems and the Field Production team to conduct regular audits to verify compliance with safety, environmental, and industry regulations.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience. Or High School Diploma or equivalent with 15 years of applicable experience

  • Valid Driver's License.

  • Ability to work during days, weekends and overtime as business needs require

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. (a bag of seed)

  • Ability to travel up to 25% during peak season

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in agronomy and seed production

Base salary estimated range between $152,904.00 - 229,356.00 annually, depending on the hiring location. You may also be offered bonuses, RSUs cash equivalent, or commission.
