The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:

Provides aviation support services to the U.S. Department of State DoS, and Bureau of Diplomatic Security DS under the oversight of the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation INLA. The Flight Operations Specialist performs flight operations support functions to include baggage handling, passenger loading and unloading, aircraft marshalling, and various pre-flight and post-flight activities in support of the safe and timely completion of assigned missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform security checks on baggage to comply with applicable aviation safety regulations and local security restrictions.

  • Operate baggage handling equipment such as conveyor belts, tugs, carts, and other machinery, to facilitate the movement of baggage.

  • Maintain effective communication with ground crew, loadmasters, crew chiefs, Flight Operations Coordinators, and other airport personnel to ensure efficient baggage handling operations.

  • Ensure that the cargo is staged and on-loaded to aircraft as required.

  • Complete required documentation, including baggage manifests and records, to track and account for all handled baggage.

  • Perform aircraft marshaling and parking procedures in accordance with applicable AAR and Department of State policies and guidelines.

  • Coordinate with aircrew and the Flight Operations Coordinator to ensure weight and balance data is disseminated.

  • Conduct passenger briefings, ensure passenger accountability, and marshal passengers to and from designated staging areas and assigned aircraft.

  • Ensure passenger safety within the airport working area and when in close proximity of aircraft, vehicles, and ground support equipment.

  • Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy baggage, working in various weather conditions, and standing and walking for extended periods.

  • Deploy and operate under austere conditions as required.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Ability to perform shift work, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

  • Proficiency in using airport operations software and communication systems.

  • Position requires the ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. security clearance.

  • Ability to pass physical screening.

  • Passport with 18 months remaining.
