The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.

Role Description:

The Airfield Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations, equipment maintenance, and safety of all ramp activities at an overseas International Airport. This role involves ensuring the efficient and safe movement of aircraft, vehicles, loading and off-loading cargo and terminal activities related to movement and processing personnel. Serves as the lead planner and coordinator for all diplomatic operational missions and activities encompassing rotary- and fixed-wing movements. The position is crucial in both peacetime and wartime operations, requiring coordination with various military and civilian entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage all airfield operations to ensure the safe and efficient movement of aircraft, cargo, and personnel.

  • Manages, tracks, airfield reports, operational training, and support activities.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and procedures.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of airfield facilities and equipment.

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols for airfield operations.

  • Schedule and oversee routine and emergency maintenance of airfield facilities, ramp, taxiway, and lighting systems.

  • Coordinate with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure timely and efficient repairs and upgrades.

  • Ensuring vehicle and support equipment maintenance requests are submitted and tracked.

  • Maintain accountability of all assigned vehicles and equipment.

  • Manage airfield resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.

  • Develop and manage budgets for airfield operations and maintenance.

  • Coordinated with functional managers to address disciplinary issues in country and recommend disciplinary action.

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the airfield and various military and civilian agencies, including U.S. military and coalition forces.

  • Maintain strong relationships with all supported HN organizations, DoS personnel and associate contractors and venders.

  • Provide training and development opportunities for airfield personnel.

  • Ensure all airfield staff are adequately trained in safety procedures and airfield operations.

Qualifications:

Basic Qu alifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a related field and or a combination of education and related experience.

  • Graduate of an approved DoD Airfield Management Course of equivalent.

  • 8 years of Airfield Management experience or equivalent Airfield Operations Management.

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of HN, ICAO, and Federal Aviation Administration regulations and other appropriate guidelines pertaining to contract operations.

  • 5 years demonstrated experience in leadership-management.

  • English speaking and writing communication skills.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.

  • Ability to pass physical screening.

  • Passport with 18 months remaining.
