Job Summary and Description:
Performs complex engineering/ scientific analysis with moderate direction and supervision. Works directly with EPRI staff and moderate interaction with members and industry.
• Conducts technical searches and analyzes information in support of the project team.
• May conduct independent research.
• Assists Project/Program managers in assessing customer needs, formulating technical approaches, preparing proposals, technical publications/papers, and making presentations.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Must have satisfied requirements of entry level engineer/scientist and have 2-3 years of engineering experience or comparable work/educational experience required.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills
• Present research externally
• Understand how work fits across technical area
• Requires supervision and guidance to conduct specific research tasks and complete projects
• Works closely with contractors or staff to complete project research
• May participate in multiple projects
• Individual contributor
Additional Job Information:
We conduct a broad range of technology research for electric utilities around the world. This position will work in a growing team to lead research that solves challenges and improves the practice of the Enterprise Architecture discipline at electric power utilities. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in one or more of the following:
• Digital Transformation strategy and value
• Digitization and Digitalization
• Capability Maturity Models
• Data management frameworks (DMBOK/DCAM)
• IEC Common Information Model (CIM)
• UML, Archimate and other modeling languages
• Data Integration approaches and technologies
• Data Quality measurement and correction
Collaborating with EPRI members, internal technical teams, and sub-contractors is required. Strong proficiency in written and oral communications and a comfort with meeting experts around the world to identify and transfer valuable research. The successful candidate will be expected to engage with architects at member utilities and to collaboratively develop leading practices and guidance for utilities facing architecture and integration challenges and harmonize the perspectives of both domestic and international points of view. This person is recognized as a subject matter expert and is involved in the research work of other public and private organizations in this field. Maintains expertise by in-depth involvement in the start-of-the-art research.
Education and Years of Experience
• Advanced degree in science/engineering or equivalent experience required
Electric power utility experience is preferred but not required. A background in Enterprise or Data architecture is a plus.
