The University Dean for the School of Business provides strategic and programmatic leadership and serves as the thought leader for programs housed in the school. They drive strategic planning for the school and implement initiatives to grow all programs within the school. They monitor student performance, persistence, and retention and implement interventions focused on student success. A key part of their function is to oversee all aspects of curriculum development and drive innovations in methodology and pedagogy. The Dean works with faculty to ensure that student learning outcomes are being met at appropriate levels through excellence in academic delivery and backed by a robust assessment strategy. The Dean works effectively with faculty, and with administration across the school, and the university system to deliver the highest standards of academic excellence, student success and compassionate student support. The Dean is also responsible for supporting all activities related to institutional accreditation, and for securing and maintaining ACBSP programmatic accreditation. They are responsible for conducting outreach into the larger academic and professional communities and serving as an effective advocate for the school both within the university and externally. The Dean has primary accountability for their school’s management of resources: including fiscal and human. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Planning: * Provide vision, and plan, develop and coordinate implementation of short- and long-term strategies for the school * Participate in the development of department budgets and strategic plans, ensure alignment of school with system strategic initiatives * Foster an environment of academic rigor, continuous learning and scholarship Student Engagement and Support: * Lead efforts across academic programs and interface with other areas of the University to grow program enrollment and enhance student retention * Manage student academic complaints, issues, and concerns, assist in resolving student administrative complaints as appropriate * Collaborate with admissions, advising, marketing and other areas to facilitate optimal distribution of program information. Ensure that faculty, university, and system staff are informed of organizational, educational, and accreditation policies which affect the delivery of educational services of the school * Collaborate with the ground campuses (as applicable) to ensure effective support of students and faculty Faculty Support and Academic Governance: * Actively participate in academic governance (as chair or member) in relevant Councils and Committees, and advocate for program needs * Foster a collaborative and inclusive environment for the school to support professional growth and shared governance * Participate in the recruitment, mentoring and evaluation of the faculty and administration in the respective school * Promote a culture of accountability and serve as a leader for the faculty in the school Curriculum Development and Assessment: * Approve and provide direction for new program development and program/course revisions for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs as appropriate * Serve as the primary thought leader and in-house SME for curricular areas in the discipline and is hands-on with curriculum projects * Track market trends and best practices in higher education in the design and development of new curriculum * Lead program level assessment of student learning and conduct regular program reviews grounded in best practices and AIUS methodology to that programs meet intended objectives and goals * Prepare a variety of documents associated with academic tasks and initiatives including policies, procedures reports, and reviews, implements the procedures/operations associated with these documents Data Utilization and Accreditation: * Effectively analyze and leverage data to monitor trends across educational initiatives related to retention, curriculum, instruction, and assessment, to inform decision-making and drive initiatives * Assist in all regional (institutional) accreditation efforts, including self-study preparation, focus visits, institutional change requests, and comprehensive evaluations * Oversee efforts to acquire and maintain programmatic accreditation with ACBSP Community Engagement and Ethical Leadership: * Actively engage in social media efforts, conference participation, and outreach to the academic, industry, and professional communities (including interaction with advisory boards and other experts) * Understand the mission, vision, goals and academic standards of the University, and espouse them in the performance of duties. * Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and ethical standards, and hold their reports accountable for the same Scholarly and Professional Activities: * Maintain professional credentials * Engage in regular and consistent scholarly/professional activities as applicable to online supervision as well as in discipline-specific area of expertise * Perform other duties as assigned and assignments as required on an ad hoc basis Knowledge, Skills and Abilities, Competencies * Proven ability to successfully manage a diverse, geographically dispersed team to achieve goals * Demonstrated skill in the collection, analysis, interpretation, reporting, and use of data for guiding decision making * Ability to foster collaboration and initiative among faculty * Skill to resolve conflicts among students, faculty and staff * Ability to mentor, inspire and engage faculty and staff to deliver high quality instruction and support * Outstanding interpersonal skills to create and sustain a collegial, collaborative, team-oriented environment * Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with peers, staff, faculty, students, accrediting agencies, licensing agencies, and the public * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to formulate feasible solutions on issues such as student engagement and retention * Outstanding project management skills * Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, common learning management systems, and student information systems;
