Our Client, an Energy Services Company, is looking for Technical Writer for their Kalamazoo, MI location Responsibilities:
The Technical Writer works with internal organization stakeholders, consultants and analysts to research, write, edit, and proofread data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, specifications, special reports, and any other customer deliverables and documents.
Interprets and writes information for documents in an easily understandable language.
Writes original drafting of management operations and business documentation requiring an understanding of the basic concepts, practices and vocabulary relevant to the subject matter.
Ensures documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and client specifications, and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.
Technical Writers apply technical writing methodology to draft and clarify information from fragmented raw data, and facilitate the review and approval process for documents.
Must be able to meet deadlines, work on multiple documents at the same time, and apply corporate quality processes.
Performs quality review of documents to include spelling, grammar and content accuracy and tone and voice consistency within given timeframes.
Writes, reviews, and edits material for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications.
Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material; assists in laying out material for publication; arranges documents for typing, duplication, and distribution of materials; and edits, standardizes, or makes changes to material prepared by other writers.
Ensures project documentation is in compliance with company legal, business and regulatory requirements.
Plans communications; develops the message in the appropriate style for the intended audience to include presentations, white papers, memos, policies, procedures, user guides, technical requirements and specifications, visual management, and other products.
Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
Contributes to special projects, when needed, proofing and editing content, layouts and graphics for documents and associated media.
Researches topics and interviews stakeholders to understand communication product requirements; analyzes business problems and helps prescribe communication solutions.
Communicates and collaborates with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individuals.
Requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to grasp technical concepts and effectively convey information to technical and non-technical audiences.
Excellent technical research and organizational skills
A positive attitude and the ability to interact with a diverse audience
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and facilitating consensus across organizations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with MadCap Flare is a plus.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Bachelor degree in Technical Communication, Professional Writing, or Technical Writing or equivalent experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
