Overview

Join AIR as a Technical Assistance (TA) Consultant with ourAdult Learning (https://www.air.org/our-work/workforce/adult-learning) team, which conducts research and provides technical assistance to states and local programs to enhance the adult education system. Our work focuses on promoting teacher quality through improved professional development, strengthening accountability, and increasing the use of technology in instruction. AIR's projects help improve adult learners’ basic skills and English language abilities, enabling them to obtain secondary and postsecondary credentials, succeed in higher education, and enhance their employability.

This position reports into AIR's Workforce Development (https://www.air.org/our-work/workforce) program area, where we support a healthy, productive, and evolving workforce that is vital to the United States’ economy and democracy. Our experts bring decades of experience in workforce policy and practice, labor policy, postsecondary transformation, economics, and adult education. Together, we address structural barriers in the workforce related to race, class, and gender. We deliver rigorous research and evaluation, as well as results-driven technical assistance and training, throughout the United States and across all levels of the system.

This position will have the flexibility to work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations . This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities

The position involves project work across several federal and state contracts. The selected candidate will possess the knowledge and skills to:

  • Develop and support all aspects of adult basic education professional development and technical assistance (TA) materials, including facilitation guides, content webinars on various relevant topics, and training curricula.

  • Support professional development and TA on topics such as digital literacy, technology in education, online learning, and media literacy.

  • Translate research and evidence into TA materials.

  • Interact professionally with a wide range of stakeholders, including AIR staff, consultant facilitators, clients, and event participants.

  • Coordinate and execute complex tasks while engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal development and professional networking.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A Master’s degree in education or a related field with at least four years of relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six years of experience in a related field

  • At least three years of experience in adult basic education instruction, as well as experience in adult education program management or professional development

  • Experience in supporting technology based education, online learning environments and digital and media literacy instruction

  • Proficiency and experience developing online professional development events and courses

Skills:

  • Comfortable working independently and as a member of a team

  • Excellent organization, time management, and oral and written communication skills and be client-service oriented

  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy during data collection, analysis, and writing

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds

  • Ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment

Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide samples of professional development or technical assistance facilitation and materials, and a sample of a published work.

Disclosures:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $95,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
