Overview

Tanaq Support Services (TSS) delivers professional, scientific, and technical services and information technology (IT) solutions to federal agencies in health, agriculture, technology, and other government services. TSS is a subsidiary of the St. George Tanaq Corporation, an Alaskan Native Corporation (ANC) committed to serving Federal customers while also giving back to the Tanaq native community and shareholders.

About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level Technical Assistance Specialist to support a Tribal Implementation Center under the Public Health Data Modernization Program. The center will provide technical assistance and aid Tribes and Tribal organizations in data modernization efforts while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty.

This is a fully remote position that can be based in Atlanta, GA or anywhere in the U.S. Some travel (15% of time) may be required to various locations in the U.S. to attend meetings, conferences, etc. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Tribes and Tribal organizations while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches and communications that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty.

  • Identify, document and track technical assistance activities and tasks, update the collaboration platform, and support meetings and communications.

  • Oversee and manage technical assistance activities through an online technical assistance tracking system.

  • Support development and maintenance of an online resource center, including online technical assistance tracking system.

  • Oversee subject matter expert deployment and execution of training and technical assistance tasks

  • Design, deliver and evaluate trainings (in person, virtual, modular).

  • Develop and implement guidance documents.

  • Design and facilitate peer to peer learning forums or communities of practice.

  • Build and manage relationships with a range of partners, including grantees and other stakeholders.

  • Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in training and technical assistance design and/or delivery in public health.

  • Demonstrated cultural competence in providing services to or working with Tribes and Tribal organizations while ensuring culturally-appropriate approaches that respect indigenous values and Tribal data sovereignty

  • Knowledge of technical assistance methodologies and delivery of best practices required, preferably for data modernization initiatives for Tribes and Tribal organizations.

  • Prior experience working with public health agencies, grantees, and/or Tribes and Tribal organization strongly desired.

  • Ability to think analytically; define and thoroughly document tasks; conceptualize, plan, and complete major elements of project work.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and/or Access)

  • Experience and Proficiency hosting webinars through online communications platforms.

  • Strong oral communication skills, and well-developed writing skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as a team member.

  • Excellent attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to multitask under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders with a range of content and technical assistance expertise, from community members to academic researchers.

  • Ability to manage discrete tasks with limited supervision is required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and as a team member are required.

  • Expertise in independently developing written products such as contract reports, guidance documents, electronic resources related to public health, and other presentations is required.

  • Professional experience leading workshops, conducting trainings, developing resources or tools for improving delivery of public health programs.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, social sciences, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Ability to travel (15% of time) to various locations in the U.S. to attend meetings, conferences, etc.
