The Systems Engineer is a key member of the HVACR Technical Services Team and will support accredited HVACR system evaluations. The Systems Engineer will work closely with the Research Lab Manager and a team of skilled technicians to utilize psychrometric rooms and state-of-the-art data acquisition systems for system evaluations. The Systems Engineer will lead the development of quotations, test plans, test results, equipment calibrations and maintenance plans, and process improvement plans and be the primary customer contact throughout each project.

As A Systems Engineer, You Will:

  • Lead the Copeland team regarding system performance evaluation of HVACR systems.

  • Provide technical support to OEMs requesting accredited HVACR system testing for up to 20 Ton systems:

  • Develop project quotations aligned with OEM test requests.

  • Develop test plans directing the effort of the test technicians.

  • Evaluate test results and summarize them to OEMs.

  • Execute equipment calibration and maintenance plans.

  • Support lab quality system and accreditation process.

  • Have strong knowledge of thermodynamics and refrigeration engineering design principles at the system level.

  • Be familiar with HVACR system, testing, and safety standards (i.e. AHRI 210/240, AHRI 340/360, AHRI 550/590, UL 60335-2-40).

  • Provide problem-solving expertise – analyze data and work with the lab team to develop near and long-term improvement plans.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering background plus three (3) years of experience or associate’s degree in an Engineering background plus five (5) years of experience.

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with HVACR systems and controls.

  • Excellent customer communications and troubleshooting skills with experience working directly with OEM systems.

  • Customer-focused and service-oriented

  • Strives for continuous personal development and improvement.

  • Portrays a professional image to the customers and to the team.

  • Proficient with report writing, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to travel 0-5%

  • Legal Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Or Electrical Engineering plus seven (7) years of experience.

  • Data Acquisition System knowledge.

  • Electronic Controls / Variable Frequency Drives knowledge as applied at the equipment/system level.

  • Experienced in training others on technical products.

Core Hours:

Core Hours: 9:00-3:00. Remote work will be on an ad hoc basis based on lab schedules and workload.
