Compensation Range:
$70,197.00 - $105,295.00
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Horticulture and Grounds
Inspects, manages, and sets priorities on all activities within assigned shop operations. Coordinates projects occurring within assigned areas while maintaining communications with all clients. Understands budgets and manages operating revenues. Supervises assigned trade personnel. Makes recommendations on hiring, performance assessment, staff development, disciplines & terminations. Assists in the development of capital renewal program. Must be available for on-call responsibilities as required, including winter snow removal administration. Must have working telephone.
Inspects and manages all activities within assigned operations. Coordinates projects occurring within these facilities while maintaining communications with all clients/users. Assures that all needs and expectations of customers are met, and facility performance is maintained at acceptable standards. Understands budgets, sets priorities and schedules. 10%
Supervises assigned trade personnel. Hires or makes recommendations for hiring, appraises performance, counsels, makes recommendations on promotions and other personnel matters. Oversees work to confirm industry and University Standards are followed. Disciplines or makes recommendations for disciplinary action. Administers Snow removal program, including on-call requirements. Performs payroll duties. Approves FAMIS work orders. 40%
Continually surveys and inspects all areas within assigned areas for potential maintenance problems or deficiencies. Maintains records of deficiencies and implement corrective measures within budgetary limits where possible. 5%
Documents conditions of a capital nature found to be sub-standard, establishes cost and priority for correction. Assists in the cost development and implementation of capital renewal and replacement programs. 2%
Develops short- and long-term work assignments, monitors and directs work performance within the area. Responsible for task assignment, coordination and guidance of all Facilities personnel working in the area. Enlists assistance of central shops or contractors when required. Identifies and procures services of others to specify or perform contract work. Provides project quality control and inspection for capital renewal and replacement projects. Develops small projects occurring in the assigned areas as required. 10%
Manages operating revenues, expenses for budget compliance, and implements cost reduction measures, as necessary. Understands and manages annual operating budget for assigned facilities. This includes authorization and/or follow-up of material requisitions and ordering for the area. Inspects or otherwise verifies that all service requests and work performed within the area meets University standards. Determines and implements, with supervisor’s authorization, the best methods for cost reduction and operational improvements. 7%
Assists the Facilities Planning & Project Management, Central Utilities, and Campus Planning & Design Construction Management divisions for those projects including improvements and modifications. Ensures that consultants and contractors implement necessary corrections to complete projects. Ensures that contractor operations do not disrupt other building operations and construction schedules and budget meet client needs. 8%
Develops and maintains rapport with all Facility users. Establishes regular meetings and implements procedures to address concerns and problems. Provides resolution or appropriate feedback to concerned parties. Meets regularly with users regarding policy or procedural changes being implemented. Develops and maintains rapport with other University Facilities Divisions. Assures operational objectives are consistent with University and Department Policies & Procedures. 10%
Manages the Facilities Environmental Health & Safety inspection program and follows up as necessary with corrective action. Confirms PPE is available and proper use is followed and training is current. Supervises and implements equipment preventive maintenance programs for assigned areas while providing record keeping for various maintenance and replacement issues. 4%
Administers equipment repair, purchase, and replacement programs. Maintains inventory of department equipment. 2%
Assists in development of policies and procedures governing all Division activities. Assumes On Call duties as required. Will be required to provide extended coverage during special projects or shut down periods. 2%
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated technical proficiency in grounds maintenance and installations and minimum 5 years field experience.
Previous Supervisory experience preferred.
