AON Sr. Pension Investment Actuarial Analyst in United States

Sr. Pension Investment Actuarial Analyst (Hybrid – Atlanta GA, or Chicago IL, or Norwalk CT)

Job Description Summary

Aon is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst in Delegated Investment Operations Team. Key responsibilities include US and Canadian pension liability estimation, asset and liability monitoring, and investment strategy implementation for Aon OCIO clients.

This non-traditional pension actuarial role requires the pension actuarial experience to understand the liability calculations and communicate the valuation results to both actuarial and investment consultants. This position will provide the exposures to the investment strategy, asset reconciliation and hedging analytics on Aon’s trading and reporting systems. Candidates with outstanding analytical skills and a passion about the database management will be ideal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on pension liability estimates for US and Canadian delegated clients for daily monitoring, which includes the valuation and gain/loss analysis for:

  • Annual census data updates

  • Assumption changes

  • Plan changes

  • Mergers and spinoffs

  • Annuity purchase/retiree lift out

  • Lump sum window

  • Plan termination

  • Work with investment and actuarial consultants on liability result communication

  • Coordinate the Risk Analyzer onboarding and reporting with the US and Canadian investment operations teams.

  • Proactively manage the pension settlement activities and their monitoring adjustments in Risk Analyzer.

  • Coordinate with the analyst team and the actuary team on project timing and deliverables.

  • Work with the lead actuary and technology teams to develop new features and models in different systems.

  • Work on Investment Policy implementations for Delegated clients.

  • Work with Portfolio Manager (PM) team on trading activities and hedging analytics when necessary.

  • Help client consulting teams on liability attribution and general plan status questions in different reporting platforms.

  • Assist with onboarding and training of new

  • Continue to optimize the work process and follow the best practice.

    Ideal Experience:

  • 5+ years of pension actuarial experience

  • ASA or EA is a plus.

  • Canadian or international pension experience a plus

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel/VBA/macro

  • Eagle Pace, Bloomberg, Power BI experience a plus

  • Detail oriented, interest in investment, operations, intellectual curiosity, technology, and database skills

    The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $78,000 to $120,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
