Job Description
The Simulation Coordinator is crucial in facilitating and managing the day-to-day operation of the simulation hospital and skills labs. The coordinator develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates a program of clinical skills, simulation, and standardized patients in a center of supportive student learning. This position requires technical expertise, administrative skills, and a commitment to promoting effective learning and safety within the simulation lab. This is a 12-month staff position.
Job Location: This will be a full-time position, and the selected candidate will be required to be on the Texas A&M University-Texarkana campus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Collaborate with educators and subject matter experts to design and develop realistic simulation scenarios.
Create, modify, and update scenarios to meet the learning objectives of various programs or courses.
Ensure that simulation scenarios align with current industry standards and best practices.
Train faculty, instructors, and simulation operators on properly using simulation equipment and software.
Schedule and coordinate clinical learning activities, including setting up rooms for simulation scenarios, preparing moulage, setting up furniture, supplies, and equipment, and implementing scenarios or skills training.
Assists with developing and coordinating a standardized patient program, including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating patients.
Restores rooms, human patient simulators, and equipment to readiness after scenarios or training.
Coordinates implementation of simulation encounters, digital audio/video recordings, student debriefings, and evaluations.
Offer technical support during simulation sessions to troubleshoot any equipment or software issues.
Regular checks of simulation equipment are conducted to ensure functionality and safety.
Coordinates maintenance and repairs on simulation equipment, including human patient simulators, partial task trainers, and manikins.
Coordinate with vendors for repairs and replacements when necessary.
Stocks and maintains supplies and supply room.
Provides instructional support for student skills practice
Communicate regularly with the Nursing Division Chair regarding the needs of students and faculty related to the clinical simulation and skills labs
Conducts tours and demonstrations in the simulation hospital and skills labs
Participates in departmental activities and meetings
Participates in recruitment activities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in nursing or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
One year of relevant experience
Excellent interpersonal skill
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (or bachelor’s degree in a related field [e.g., healthcare, education, nursing, technology] or combination of education and experience)
Knowledge of healthcare or educational simulation standards and guidelines.
Technical proficiency in simulation software and hardware systems.
Simulation Center coordination; current clinical practice
Certification in healthcare simulation (e.g., Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist - CHSOS) is a plus.
Other Requirements
Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
