Senior Validation Engineer

Job Description

This is an opportunity to contribute at a high level to the technical and commercial success of the corporation. To succeed, you will need to combine understanding of multiphase VR systems, automated testing equipment and software, and industry best practices for advanced mixed-signal IC and system testing. You will have critical input to product qualification and business planning activities. Your ability to work across functional groups through formal communication and direct interaction is critical to success. The position requires significant technical experience beyond traditional power management topics due to the embedded SOC nature of the products. Experience with firmware-enabled products is required.

Seeking an individual to develop and lead a team for validating cutting edge digital power management solutions. A successful candidate will have strong desire and ability to work in a technically challenging environment with other top performers to continue Renesas’s development of industry leading power management IC’s.

Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the lead validation engineer, and design and applications engineering teams, to develop a validation test plan, provide inputs for automation, and drive testing.

  • · Work with the automation team to maximize the utilization of automation tools and methodologies to accomplish the product validation goals in a robust, time-efficient way, with maximal coverage.

  • · Collect, summarize, analyze, and present validation test data, and make recommendations for design or application changes based on the resulting data.

  • Participate in FPGA-based design prototyping and validation to verify key features and functions will meet expectations. Work with design and other staff to find solutions when targets are not met.

  • Develop valuable IP by finding unique solutions to critical customer problems. Assist marketing with analysis to support a monetary value of IP.

  • Strong attention to detail and passion to ensure the release of high-quality products for market adoption.

  • Excellent communication skills and technical understanding will allow the indirect influence across functional disciplines.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or technical equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of experience in the power management industry.

  • Proficiency with a full complement of lab equipment including network analyzers, oscilloscopes and waveform generators.

  • Working knowledge of schematic capture, simulation and layout tools.

  • Must possess excellent communications skills, both oral and written.

  • Experience with DC/DC converters and understanding of control loop theory and its application in power converters.

  • Proficiency in data analysis using Excel or JMP.

  • Experience with automation of lab testing and common software, drivers, and APIs.

  • Proficiency in Python, C or other Object-Oriented Programming language.
