Job Description

Purpose:

The Senior Technician I, under the management of the AggieFab Laboratory Manager, will be responsible for performing various aspects of utilities, facilities, and process equipment repair and maintenance in support of the Texas A&M AggieFab Nanofabrication Facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and support for facilities, utility equipment, and nanofabrication processing equipment.

  • Use technical manuals, on-line resources, and OEM representatives to maintain the equipment operational with minimum downtime.

  • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and cleanliness protocols in a cleanroom facility.

  • Solve a variety of nanofabrication equipment hardware and software issues independently and provide maintenance, reliability, and operational leadership for a variety of tooling, including photolithography, reactive ion etching, metrology, thin film deposition, electrical testing, and dicing saw tool sets.

  • Perform routine troubleshooting and maintenance functions with little to no supervision after training and work with field service engineers on more complex equipment interventions.

  • Work with other contractors, engineers, and quality control personnel regarding changes or improvements to the systems.

  • Demonstrate continuous personal pursuit in increasing job knowledge and proficiency with different systems.

  • Provide rigorous documentation of processes and procedures. Organize workload and workspaces.

  • Other duties as assigned by the AggieFab Technical Manager.

What we need:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Four years of related experience

What is helpful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field.

  • Experience in the semiconductor industry at a leading manufacturer in the equipment or facilities maintenance areas.

  • Experience with the maintenance and operation of a variety of nanofabrication tools, such as thin film deposition, photolithography, metrology, and reactive ion etching tools. The maintenance experience should involve troubleshooting a variety of hardware and software issues on this equipment.

  • Experience with nanofabrication process and measurement equipment in addition to peripheral equipment, such as vacuum pumps, chillers, and ion gauges.

  • The Senior Technician I may experience prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and stretching; climbing ladders and stairs of various heights; lifting equipment; and be exposed to noisy environments.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and customer-oriented attitude.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work well with AggieFab full-time staff members, external contractors, and undergraduate student workers.

  • Knowledge of the facilities associated with a Class 100 cleanroom, such as CDA, N2, air handlers, dirty air scrubbers, and fan filter units.

  • Ability to troubleshoot a variety of equipment and facilities issues independently and provide a plan for resolution to management.
