The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:
Serves as project management partner to University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) department leadership to improve operational effectiveness, drive change, and advance programs and projects. This role manages, leads, and guides key business initiatives, and has advanced knowledge and experience in project management ensuring results meet quality, cost, schedule, and delivery requirements. Plans, monitors and manages internal projects from initiation through completion. Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders. Monitors and reports on performance and recommends changes. Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders. Develops project plans, financial plans, quality, and associated communications documents. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of multiple, simultaneous projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments and goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Project Initiation:
Determines scope of the problem/project, through collaboration with the executive project sponsor, and key stakeholders
Gathers input from team members on required tasks and translates into a project plan with activities, dependencies, dates and timeframes, resource requirements, milestones and deliverables.
Collaborates with leadership to assign appropriate resources to the project as needed
Project Management:
Leads large scale, complex projects from inception to completion
Formulates a systems-approach to prepare project plans with activities, dependencies, timeframes, resource requirements, milestones, and deliverables. (5%)
Manages project scope and timeline, using appropriate governance bodies and leadership direction (10%)
Identifies, tracks, and manages risks and mitigation plans within assigned projects, escalating as appropriate (5%)
Identifies, tracks, and manages issues to resolution within assigned projects, escalating as appropriate (5%)
Monitors and assesses progress of project activities and ensures all critical implementation criteria are met by proactively identifying barriers and solutions (15%)
Project Communication:
Facilitates project meetings using effective meeting techniques for objectives, agendas, participants, and meeting minutes
Develop/maintain reporting dashboards suitable for Sr. Leadership to communicate project status
Independently deploys and pivots actions to appropriately respond and negotiate through barriers presented by leveraging change management principles within meetings and throughout the project
Conducts post-project “lessons learned” sessions to identify successful project elements and areas for future improvement
Analysis & Evaluation:
On a regular and ongoing basis, analyzes and interprets program information, identifying key drivers and underlying issues, performs appropriate in-depth queries and summarizes and presents findings and opportunities to leaders to achieve specified project goals
Leads the development of Key Performance Indicators with Project Teams and prepares reports and presentations backed by data, financial analyses, and evidence-based methods when applicable
Communicates and translates analysis and findings to diverse audiences with varied understandings of analytic principles
Provides project evaluations pertaining to financial, utilization, clinical and departmental objectives.
Leadership:
Leads through influence
Develops and maintains relationships with key team members and departments to build trust and ensure the progress of projects
Leverages models and approaches to increase adoption and sustain change
Actively participates as a team member
Makes presentations to leadership, sponsors, and stakeholders
Keeps current with business and strategic goals
Stays apprised of team’s roles, processes, tools, and architecture to better understand how the team works together to meet users' needs
Attends webinars, reads case studies and white papers, and participates in other free or low-cost opportunities to further refine skills and stay apprised on project management topics
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree preferred.
5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Detail-oriented, organized, experience managing large and complex projects, extensive computer literacy, excellent written and verbal communication, strong leadership and strategic-thinking skills, effective presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.
Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI (upon hire) preferred.
