PNC Scrum Master in United States

Position Overview

As a Scrum Master within PNC's Asset Management Group and AI Strategy organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA or Strongsville, OH. The position is primarily based in a PNC location. Responsibilities require time in the office or in the field on a regular basis. Some responsibilities may be performed remotely, at the manager’s discretion.

The Scrum Master should be an expert in Agile values and principles and is an individual contributor, acts as an Agile coach for teams and is responsible for facilitating Scrum related events for 2-3 teams. You will own the standard Scrum events for teams practicing Scrum and coaches product teams in the principles and practices that enable meaningful solutions for the organization's business and customers. This role will also play an active role in driving Agile transformation and a transition to a Product Operating Model, across the company. Successful Scrum Masters exhibit strong team leadership and coaching skills, great communication skills, strong collaboration skills, and strong planning and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

• Models Agile values by guiding and coaching teams on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver impactful and high quality products and capabilities.

• Coaches product teams in self-organization, making and meeting commitments, building cross-functional skill sets, sharing domain knowledge, internal and external collaboration, and communicating effectively.

• Leads teams in effective backlog management and value-based prioritization to improve the quality of clear and concise product backlog items.

• Contributes to the development and management of release plans with data and insights and manages cross-team dependencies.

• Collaborates with other scrum masters, program managers, agile leaders and portfolio team members to grow organizational practices and maturity and to grow their own skills within the role.

• Accountable for facilitating and supporting key relevant team ceremonies including, but not limited to, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Daily Standup, Scrum of Scrums, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospectives.

• Identifies and resolves impediments to increase organizational effectiveness by partnering with appropriate team leaders to test and implement appropriate solutions.

• Models a growth mindset. Coaches teams to leverage discovery, testing, iteration, and feedback in their day to day practices.

Responsibilities:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience

• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification is required.

• Additional Agile certifications (e.g., CSP, PSM, SAFe) are highly desirable

• 5+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master in Agile software development environments

• Retail technology background is strongly preferred

• Extensive experience coaching and mentoring Agile teams, including facilitating Agile ceremonies and resolving team-level challenges

• 2+ years of previous experience working within a Product Operating Model. Prior experience making a transition to a Product Operating Model also preferred.

• Deep knowledge of Agile principles and methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and Agile scaling frameworks and management tools like Jira.

• Strong understanding of software development processes and practices, with experience working in Agile engineering practices such as Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development, and DevOps. Experience implementing custom software solutions and implementing SaaS based solutions.

• Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on identifying and removing impediments to team productivity. Proven experience in implementing team and agile metrics to facilitate efforts in continuous improvement.

• Passion for Agile coaching and a dedication to staying at the forefront of Agile practices through continuous learning and professional development.

• Strong expertise in epic, feature and story refinement, splitting techniques, agile estimation practices, and team velocity management.

• Ability to understand both high level and detailed deliverable and convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Job Description

  • Supports and facilitates generally one to two Scrum Teams in various functions by fostering Agile values and practices.

  • Ensures team adherence to Agile principles. Provides coaching to the Scrum Team(s) on how to execute the Scrum framework.

  • Organizes and facilitates ceremonies, identifies improvement opportunities to optimize velocity and quality while mitigating risk. Tracks and communicates the overall team progress providing visibility to stakeholders.

  • Serves as a filter to remove impediments to progress as identified by the team. Protects the team from outside influences to ensure the team remains focused on Scrum Team priorities.

  • Partners with the Product Owner to ensure the backlog items are prioritized based on business value and ready for the team.
