VCA Animal Hospitals Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) - Cardiology in Sacramento, California

Job Summary:

VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our Cardiology team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for veterinary medicine, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to providing the highest quality care to our patients. This role involves supporting our cardiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions in pets, ensuring the smooth operation of our cardiology department.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:

  • Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the supervision of cardiologists.

  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic procedures such as echocardiograms, ECGs, and radiographs.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the cardiologist.

  • Monitor anesthesia and assist in interventional cardiology procedures.

  • Diagnostic Testing:

  • Perform and assist with diagnostic tests including blood pressure measurement, electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitoring, and other cardiac diagnostics.

  • Collect and process laboratory samples as required.

  • Client Communication:

  • Educate and communicate with clients regarding their pet's cardiac health, diagnostic procedures, and treatment plans.

  • Provide detailed discharge instructions and support to clients following procedures.

  • Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in the electronic medical record system.

  • Schedule and coordinate patient appointments and follow-ups.

  • Assist in inventory management and ensure the cardiology department is stocked with necessary supplies and medications.

  • Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians, fellow technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive patient care.

  • Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and training sessions to stay current with advancements in veterinary cardiology.

Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in the state of California.

  • Previous experience in a veterinary cardiology setting preferred but not required.

  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, radiography, and venipuncture.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to providing compassionate and high-quality care to patients and exceptional service to clients.

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The pay range for this position is $18 to $20/ hour.
