Job Summary

The R&D Metrologist 3 is responsible to providing primary in-house calibration support in R&D (Molecular and Oncology). Will manage equipment sent off-site for repair and calibration. Will perform in-house calibrations on equipment such as timers, thermometers, room thermostats, etc.. Will document and keep records of calibration certificates and data sheets per cGMP guidelines and follows 21 CFR Part 820. Will maintain awareness of industry regulations pertaining to calibration such as ISO 17025.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • AA degree and 1-4 years related experience.

  • BS and 0-2 years related experience.

  • ASQ Calibration Technician Certification a plus.

Skills

  • Knowledge of cGMP guidelines and familiar with 21 CFR Part 820.

  • Maintains awareness of industry regulations pertaining to calibration (e.g., ISO 17025).

  • Working knowledge of calibration standards and procedures.

  • Ability to effectively work with cross functional departments within the company.

  • Highly organized

  • Good understanding of lab equipment

  • Excellent time management and detail orientation skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skill level required.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management, including resolving laboratory related issues.

  • Basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

  • Solid computer skills – Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Agile, Oracle.

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong customer service skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitors and maintains integrity of calibration standards.

  • Assists in the integrity review of maintenance and calibration paperwork.

  • Acquires data sheets and documented calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities.

  • With assistance, can diagnose basic mechanical and electrical equipment problems.

  • Manages equipment sent offsite for repair and calibration.

  • Tracks, stocks, and orders all necessary calibration and repair components.

  • Verifies repaired equipment functionality prior to release.

  • Supports the calibration and maintenance database.

  • Can calibrate > 50% of all equipment in database.

  • Practice and demonstrate awareness of applicable safety guidelines and standards.

  • Participates in Metrology continuous improvement projects.

  • Schedules equipment service with vendors and end users.

  • Follows detailed written procedures and documents calibration, testing, and repair activities.

  • Communicates equipment issues to service providers and communicates equipment status to end users.

  • Acquires and reviews vendor datasheets and documented calibration, inspection, testing and repair activities.

  • Maintains the calibration and preventive maintenance database.

  • Assists in monthly equipment status review.

  • Receives and completes internal work requests.

  • Supports Metrologist activities as needed, including assisting with sending equipment off-site for calibration and repair

Must follow all applicable FDA regulations and ISO requirements.

The annualized base salary range for this role is $56,900 to $84,400 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
