Glimpse of the Job

The Project Coordinator under general supervision of Dr. Amal Bakchan, in the research lab with the Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University, coordinates and manages multiple ongoing research projects. The Project Coordinator will work with the investigators in the day-to-day operations of the projects, including oversight of research assistants. The Project Coordinator will coordinate advisory boards, assist with quantitative and qualitative data collection and management (as needed), assist in budget management, assist with the organization of community-based workshops, and participate in writing and submitting reports to the funding agencies. The Project Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee budgets, grant, and administrative procedures.

Opportunities to Contribute

Project Coordination

  • Coordinates research projects. Attends meetings with project team and sponsors to report progress, conduct planning, and engage in problem-solving.

  • Develops and implements project timelines and calendar. Coordinates between sponsoring agencies, collaborating organizations, and/or other research/educational institutions.

  • Coordinates work among project team members.

Project Support

  • Responds to requests and implements directives from project sponsors. Develops required project documents, including the timely submittal of quarterly and final progress reports and related materials to project sponsors and federal agencies.

  • Ensures compliance with sponsors’ reporting requirements, while ensuring confidentiality. Assists with tracking of project outputs/outcomes, budget management, and progress reporting of budgetary updates.

  • Prepares presentation and communication materials. Assists with promoting project activities/findings through writing professional and social media posts, as well as managing public relations.

Administration

  • Supports grant and other project-related administrative procedures. Assist with hiring student workers.

    Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of project coordination/administration or closely related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Outstanding organizational skills.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, as well as meeting deadlines.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in software programming languages and data management/analysis tools is a plus, such as Python, GIS, and statistical analysis.

  • Experience conducting independent and/or collaborative research is a plus.

  • Knowledge and/or experience in onsite wastewater treatment system technologies is a plus.
