Physical Therapist- Per Diem 8-Hour Day Shift
The Physical Therapist evaluates patients, plan and implement specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of physical therapy. The Physical Therapist demonstrates proficient clinical knowledge and skills in delivering care to assigned age specific patient populations within an interdisciplinary team environment. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrates an appropriate level of clinical skill, as evidenced by completion of comprehensive and insightful evaluations and the development of individualized and effective treatment plans, designed to achieve precise, functional goals.
Perform patient care at the highest level in variable hospital settings- Outpatient, Inpatient, Sub acute, and Wound-care in all Pipeline Health Hospitals.
Uses excellent communication skills to educate patients and engage them in their own care.
Communicate/collaborate with other disciplines, patients, and their family. The Physical Therapist is also responsible in Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy student or Physical Therapy Assistant student if applicable.
Makes appropriate discharge recommendations to the interdisciplinary team and coordinates the follow-up with vendors or other ancillary support personnel on any outstanding orders to ensure patient safety.
Conferences with Providers and other allied health professionals to make recommendations for occupational therapy treatment programs.
Attends and participates in department and multi-disciplinary meetings on regularly scheduled days and checks meeting minutes if unable to attend.
Prepares, maintains, and transmits accurate patient documentation including, EMR, charges, and productivity logs.
Able to safely and appropriately delegate and follow-up patient cases to Aide, students and Restorative Nursing Assistant/RNA.
Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
Basic unit/department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
At least one (1) year of current experience in an acute care setting.
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.
A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current California Physical Therapy License or NPTE board exam eligibility
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days.
OR
Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299.
The base hospital for this position will be MHG. (New Grads are welcomed)
