Mid Level Civil/Structural Line Engineer

POWER Engineers is currently seeking a Mid Level Transmission Line Engineer to work in the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Department. This position is based in our Ann Arbor, MI office with the ability to work remotely based on a mutually acceptable location in our Midwest Region.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables in support of overhead transmission line projects:

  • PLS-CADD model

  • PLS-POLE models

  • Project design criteria

  • Steel pole loading calculations and drawings

  • Engineering drawings and specifications

  • Foundation designs and drawings

  • Bill of materials

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to others. Perform detailed engineering reviews of the work submitted by others

  • Coordinate regularly with the Project Engineer to ensure project scope, budget, and quality expectations are met

Required Education/Experience

  • Civil (BSCE) degree, from an accredited university

  • Experience in the design of overhead High Voltage and Extra High Voltage transmission lines including route selection, conductor, OHGW and OPGW selection, line and structure spotting, structure design and analysis, foundation design and analysis, procurement specification development and development of construction bid packages

  • PLS-CADD / PLS-POLE experience

  • Foundation design experience using industry software (RISA, L-PILE, FAD etc.)

  • Two (2) or more years' experience in transmission line design as outlined above

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) registration is required

  • The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to communicate effectively with internal team members and external client personnel

  • Experience using the Microsoft Office software suite

Desired Education/Experience

  • Professional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred

  • Masters Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering a plus

  • Distribution/underbuild design experience is a plus

  • Managerial and leadership skills a plus

POWER is a fun engineering firm. That might seem contradictory to some, but it works for us! 

Base Salary Range: $70K - $110K

The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
